Douwe Dabbert / Piet Wijns. Piet Wijn's name is particularly associated with Douwe Dabbert, "a good-natured dwarf with a bum heart. He drew the adventures of the pot-bellied animal lover with his magic knapsack from 1975 for the weekly Donald Duck (issue The Netherlands), scenarios Thom Call. While he was the 23th album he suffered a stroke, which led to a partial paralysis on his right side.
Piet wijn then did the impossible: he learned to draw with the left and worked for some years by the Douwe Dabbert series, until the next stroke he turned off permanently. The last story was signed by Dick Matena. From 1975 to 2001 there were stories about Douwe Dabbert in the Donald Duck. From 1973 Wine also drew comic strips for Dutch magazine Tina Girl.
In 1984 was Piert Wijn awarded the main strip price (Stripschapprijs) in the Netherlands, and he was honored in 2005 with an exhibition at the Cartoon Museum in Groningen, where he performed with beautiful paintings and portraits.
