-For this 47th story of the adventures of Lucky Luke (and 30th album published by Dupuis in 1967), Morris and Goscinny will focus on Martha Jane Cannary, better known as Calamity Jane. They thus take up a recipe that has already worked several times before: having our hero cross paths with characters who really existed (Judge Roy Bean, the Dalton brothers or Billy The Kid to name just a few examples).

It is while going to El Plomo to elucidate an arms trafficking case that Lucky Luke will meet Calamity Jane. Over a coffee, the already famous Calamity Jane will tell her story to Lucky Luke. In a few flashback vignettes, we quickly understand that we are dealing with a colorful character with a strong character.

And if Calamity Jane refuses the tobacco that Luke offers her, it is not out of vanity. It's just that she prefers the quid!

It is by always keeping in mind Morris's lively and expressive line that David has given volume to this encounter. And always with a radical approach: volumes, dynamism, treatment of folds and flat coloring are exclusively at the service of Morris' Art.
